Svalbard is part of Norway but not part of the Schengen area, so travelling between the mainland and Svalbard crosses an external Schengen border. Days spent on Svalbard are not days spent in the Schengen area.

Travel document valid for at least three months after the intended date of departure from the territory of the Member States, and issued within the previous 10 years.
Article 6(1)(a) also requires the travel document to have been issued within the previous 10 years. Individual carriers and member states may apply stricter checks in practice.
